I love black. I love the way I feel when I’m wearing black.
Sometimes it helps me disappear and at other times when I feel differently, black helps me look sophisticated and totally put together.
Only black can do that. I’ve thought about other colors- but other colors are what they are.
They each convey a specific feeling but none have the transformative abilities of Black.
Black can be anything you want it to be. It can be casual and elegant at the same time.
Wear black to a funeral and you look respectful and mournful.
Wear black and a fabulous necklace to a cocktail party and you look sophisticated.
Wear tights and a black top with ballet flats and you look whimsical, arty and somewhat reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn.
You get the point. I love black!
The best thing about black is that you can accent it with almost any color and change the look instantly.
This morning I wore black pants, black sweater and a red/black buffalo plaid jacket. I looked positively FESTIVE!
( in a hillbilly kind of way!)
The point is: I want you to get to know black. Consider it your friend. Try it on, add white or any other color to it and watch the outfit transform.
It’s the best fashion tool you have. Make it work for you.
The photograph of Carolina Herrara’s white men’s shirt with long black taffeta skirt is one of the most striking, sophisticated and yet simple outfits I’ve seen.
You could jazz it up with pearls or crystals or long chandelier earrings or a bold color and you would look fantastic going almost anywhere in the world.
Enough said!
