Really?
The answer is, of course:
“NEVER”.
As long as we have breath in our shrinking, aging little bodies we need to look good;
especially for ourselves!
I’m so tired of older women saying :
” That’s not really appropriate for me”
or
” I need to dress my age.”
What does that mean, anyway?
There is a way to dress every body type at any age so that it looks great.
What’s even more important is: the way you dress is a form of self expression.
Be joyful
Be fashionable
Be your true self!
The secret is not to be afraid.
Don’t be afraid of criticism or of others judging you.
Maybe they’re checking you out because you are fabulous!
Or maybe they wish they had your style.
We may not look like we did 40 years ago on the outside.
But we know that our spirit is still vibrant, alive and filled with wisdom.
We are more beautiful in so many ways.
We are getting older, which is a privilege denied to many.
So, why not celebrate?
Celebrate with color.
Celebrate with jewelry, scarves and pretty shoes.
Celebrate by letting your hair grow long or cut it short or
Dye it red (like I did)
Or let it go naturally whatever color it is…
Whatever you want is the thing to do.
We didn’t like rules when we were young.
Now we don’t have to pay attention to them at all.
Try on clothing in the store that you’ve been afraid of wearing .
Attempt to see how you really look, without all those old tapes playing in your head.
Take a friend with you and model outfits for each other.
You will give each other a little courage, which is probably all you need.
If you find this whole process too daunting,
simply go to a fabulous blog called: “Advanced Style”.
You will be shocked at how women in their 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and beyond are living full, happy, meaningful, joyful lives
while being more fashionable than ever before!
Your “fashion self” is in there, ladies.
It’s crying out to be heard.
Listen to it.
Honor it and you just may change your life.
